Almost there

Finally have something to report - my Celtiberians are almost done.  They just need a coat of matt varnish and the bases flocked.

This means that my Iberians are pretty much finished.  Just a few command stands to go, though I willl have to bring the shields of the medium cavalry into line with the infantry at some point in the future.

These guys are a mixture of Old Glory and Chariot/Magister Militum and are, of course, 15mm.  I'm very glad to have these out of the way.

  1. Very nice! Have always fancied a Spanish army myself.

How are your rules coming along?

  2. That's a lot of work! Almost ready to go hunting for Romans...

  3. Looking good. I gave up on the double sided tape approach for fixing my figures to the paint stick. I'm too heavy handed with the brush when priming and the figures fall off. I'm using blue tack and bottle caps.

  4. Thanks gents - these have been sitting staring at me for too long, so good to get them out of the way and, hopefully, onto the table soon.

Simon - rules have been on the backburner for a spell as real life has taken over a bit. Should get back to them eventually though. Hope yours are going well too!

  5. Steady progress... but it is a big job. I think I have the core mechanics sussed, and an awful lot of words written (13K+), but I need a lot more play-testing to make sure that all the major troop types work against each other. Then there are still the combat examples, diagrams and army lists waiting to be written...

Real life does have a way of delaying us though, doesn't it?

    Cheers, Simon

  6. 13k written already? Well done!

I find that it's easy enough to put the ideas together in my head, but to write it out is rather tedious and raises a lot of uncomfortable questions!

But I'm really pleased to hear that yours are coming along, and I'll look forward to reading them when the time is right :)
