Crimisus video report

Well, after several attempts - including a turn by turn report which I was forced to discard when I realised I had inadvertently cut my head out of the picture for the last six turns! - I've posted a video report of the battle mentioned in my previous post. It's not perfect by any means (no one should have to hear as many 'ums' in their entire lifetime as they are going to hear in this video!) but I'll take away a few points I can work on for next time (if indeed there is a next time).

I would normally post a few photos at this point for the people (and I number myself amongst them) who as a rule hate watching video of twits waffling about wargames, but the memory card was full, so the video is all there is, sorry.

  1. Very interesting.

The mic lets you down a bit, and a suitable pointer would help, but I look forward to more!

  2. Pretty spiffy, Aaron. You certainly know the history of this battle (great figs & terrain too). El Grego makes good points, particularly when you move away from the mike. Maybe one of those clip on mikes might be better - you can work the room, so to speak. Great stuff in any case.

    1. Thanks gentlemen - that's excellent advice! I hadn't even noticed the fluctuations in volume, so many thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Thank you also for watching - it should be a good remedy for any insomnia you might suffer from! :)

  3. Aaron, enjoyed the vid (and coffee :-) ), Also nice to see the Lost Battle table in its full glory, I hadn't realised that each tile was so large, so it gives an impressive gaming space.

I have just checked with Amazon and they have a Kindle version of Lost Battles for £9.51 so I fancy a look at that.

    Cheers Norm.

    1. Thanks for your comments, Norm. Hope the coffee enhanced the experience!

Lost Battles is a great reference, even if you don't use the actual rules. The scenarios are really thoroughly researched and very useful on their own. You won't regret it (thought scrolling through on a kindle might be a pain!).

  4. Interesting report. It reminds me of all the positive points of Lost Battles. I really should get the rules out again...

    1. We're intending to be back in your neck of the woods in the not-too-distant-future Keith, so assuming visas and things all go smoothly, perhaps we could consider doing Paraitacene for Battle Day?

      Cheers,
      Aaron

  5. Given your disclaimer, not as many "ums" as I expected!

  6. I enjoyed the video very much, Aaron! Greg makes two solid suggestions about mic use and the need for a laser pointer. Nevertheless, you demonstrate a solid understanding of the battle and I learned a lot.

As for Lost Battles, I agree completely with your recommendation to Norm. It is a terrific resource even if the rules are not used. That is how I use it having not yet given the rules a go.

By the way, I did not realize it was available in paperback. My old copy is hardback.

    Good job, Aaron!
