Well, finally have some fully finished figures to check in.
Xyston companions and Thessalians. There was a bit of an issue with the original matte varnish, but a gloss coat sorted it out (phew!). They are still a bit shiny as I've been somewhat leery of subjecting them to the matte again after that incident!
Xyston hypaspists with spear.
(Hmm, have been sloppy above a greave or two here!) |
Xyston Spartans (done a long time ago, but only just flocked).
Refurbished arty got as a bonus part of a buy from TMP. Not sure of the maker, but quite a lot shorter than the Xyston figs, that's for sure!
Nice to be able to adjust the painting tallies upwards, anyway.
Your Xyston Companions,Thessalonians look Great! and the Spartans too! Congrats on completing your Hellenistic Project!.. (unless you have more on the painting desk to come?)
ReplyDeletecheers
Thanks, Phil! Yeah, quite a few more to come... Probably 500 more figs not even prepped yet!
Deleteafter reading your reply Aaron, I checked my unpainted (all nations but no Romans!) Xyston packs, I have 141 Infantry and 37 Cavalry blister/packs (about 1420 figures!) and I'm still buying the packs! :o))
Deletecheers,
That's a good effort, Phil! I do have quite a few more that aren't Greeks / Macedonians to do too. Maybe 300-400 Persians, another eighty or so Parthians. Great figures, but the drilling out of hands and the gluing of shields, spears & pikes can be a bit of a pain!
DeleteOutstanding work, Aaron! Te Xyston figures looks really good. Nothing like a photo shoot to bring up minor painting variances. Often these are rarely seen by the naked eye and NEVER seen on the gaming table.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan - I hope so, but I think I'll touch them up, just to be sure!
DeleteThe cavalry look splendid, what lovely figures.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Norm!
DeleteWell done, Aaron! Xyston make some marvelous figures and your paint jobs really do them justice!
ReplyDeleteThanks, John. Still learning :)
DeleteHuzzah! Cracking figures!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran. Working my way through them!
DeleteExcellent work Aaron! A few tufts would really improve the basing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mike. Where do you get your tufts from?
DeleteCheers,
Aaron

Thanks Mike! Will look into it.
DeleteThank you sir!
ReplyDeleteNicely done, Aaron. Good looking figures.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill. Always nice to see a bit of a reduction in the lead pile!
DeleteA wonderful job, love the Spartans...
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Phil!
DeleteLare to the party as usual, but...
ReplyDeleteI would be proud to push these figures across the battlefield, good job Aaron:)
Cheers
Kevin
Nothing wrong with being fashionably late, Kevin! Thanks for the visit and the kind words :)
