There and back again

Well, we have returned from our New Zealand trip somewhat browner and immeasurably more relaxed. Long may it last! It was lovely to catch up with friends and family again and also provided a good chance to take stock of our current situation and think about what the future may hold.

On the wargaming front I picked up some more ACW plastics for my Johnny Reb II project, succumbed to nostalgia in finally getting some basics to start off two small Warhammer Fantasy Battle armies, resupplied myself with Klear, picked up stacks of books and got in plenty of games of Commands & Colors with the old man and my brother. Good fun, and I have enough hobby and reading material to see me through the year...

But now we're back to real life :-)

  1. Welcome back! I've joined the Lost Battles Yahoo Group and after reading through the back messages I found your message about our group in Scotland. Thanks for mentioning it - according to Google Analytics (which I only started using in the middle of December) the Empire campaign material attracted quite a few visits, as well as some comments. It wasn't expected, to be honest, because I more or less began it as a sort of diary of games we play on Tuesday evenings.

    Cheers!

  2. Thanks for the note, Paul! Glad to hear you've joined the LB group and that you're getting good traffic relating to the Empire campaign. I always enjoy reading your reports and I'm sure many others do, too. Cheers!

  3. Welcome back Aaron! When you are ready, lets get to round 3 of Pharsalus!

What company do you use for ACW plastics? I've also noticed you are going for the floor wax magic wash with Klear (aka Future Shine). I do the same. Works pretty well on 1/72 scale stuff.

    TTFN!

  4. Hi John, and thanks for dropping by! I'll get the report done for our second Pharsalus and then we'll be set to go for round three.

Yes, I'm a convert to the Klear. My painting's nowhere near as good as yours is though, so I need to spend a bit of time looking at your guide! My ACW plastics are a mix - mainly Italeri and Esci with a bit of Revell and Imex thrown in. I picked up some RSM 20mm figures as well, so they will be a motley bunch.

    Cheers, and talk soon,
    Aaron

  5. Hi Aaron,

The guide I posted is actually using a 3 color pallet for blending. It is pretty easy to do. I use Klear mainly for 15mm stuff these days but I did use them on some HaT and Newline Germanic types. The results were quite good. I'll post some pictures when I post my quarterly pics for doing "the pledge".
